Man Facing Statutory Rape Charge of Teen, Now Pregnant, Expected to Plea

A Middletown girl said she had relations with Cristo Easter in January but believes another man is the father of her unborn child, according to court records.

The recently unsealed warrant charging an 18-year-old city man with statutory rape of a young girl, now 14 and pregnant, details their relationship and the possibility the baby is not his, according to court documents.

Cristo Easter, 18, of Grove Street was picked up on an outstanding warrant on May 10 on charges from an alleged assault that took place Jan. 21. He was charged with two counts risk of injury to a child and second-degree sexual assault, is out on $150,000 bond.

According to the warrant, the mother of the 14-year-old girl came into police headquarters on Feb. 4 at 4:30 p.m. to report her daughter had sexual relations with Easter on Jan. 21.

The two met through a mutual friend and began dating on Jan. 13, according to the warrant. On Jan. 21, Easter and the girl met in the North End and walked to his grandmother's Bridge Street home where they had intercourse, after Easter told the girl, "If you're my girlfriend, you're supposed to do this," according to the report.

The girl's mother told police she had a feeling something "wasn't right" with her daughter before the couple met up and tried to contact her by cell phone, however a friend answered, saying the girl was in the bathroom and hung up, the report says.

On Feb. 1, the report says, the girl told her mother about Easter and that she was pregnant, however, "she told her mother that she believed another man was the father but that it was possible it was Easter."

Easter told police the incident did take place, according to the report, but he had no contact with the girl since Jan. 21.

He's due back in court June 3, and, according to the Middletown Press, expected to issue a plea.
