Tree Removal Underway in Westlake Section of Middletown

About 180 white pine trees are being removed in the northern section of Middletown and public works crews will soon replace them with more appropriate ones.

Many residents of the Westlake section of the city have noticed trees being removed along the roadway.

Public works crews are removing 180 white pine trees, according to the Hartford Courant, because of their overgrowth and replaced with street-side trees more appropriate for visibility by motorists.

The work is in response to neighborhood groups who began informing the public works department about branches falling from the trees and residents' air conditioning units were being clogged with pine needles, according to the Middletown Press
