PD: Woman Ate Oreos, Milk in Store Aisle, Stole $62 in Beauty Items

Middletown Police say a 22-year-old woman with a history of shoplifting and an admitted ex-heroin user, told them she took the merchandise because she was hungry.

A 22-year-old city woman with a record of shoplifting from area stores was caught eating cookies and milk in a drugstore aisle, then stealing $63 worth of hair, nail and lip goods, according to Middletown Police.

On June 13 at 6:25 p.m., Olivia A. Lachelier, 22, of Labella Circle was at Rite Aid Pharmacy on Main Street when a loss prevention officer told police she took Oreo cookies and Guida's milk from the shelves, ate and drank it, then stashed the empty packages in the hair care aisle. 

The report says Lachelier took nail polish, lip gloss and nail polish remover, a brush, hair oil, two pairs of socks and hair dye, paid for the socks and hair dye, but concealed the rest, valued at $62.91.

The report says she stole because she was hungry and is an ex-heroin user with four arrests for shoplifting from South Windsor and East Hartford.

She was charged with sixth-degree larceny.
