PD: Couple Sold Cocaine, Marijuana Across from Elementary School

The following information was provided by the Middletown Police public information officer. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On April 15 at 9 p.m. narcotics officers served a warrant on a Honda Accord and Chaz Thigpen, 26, at a home across the street from Snow Elementary School where he lives with his girlfriend, Traci A. Fishman, 24, of Rogers Road, and her 5-year-old son and was selling crack cocaine, the report says.

Thigpen ran out the side door when police entered, the report says, and was caught by officers and found with seven 8mg Suboxone pills.

The apartment smelled of marijuana and a bag with 1.3 grams was on the table, including several open bottles of alcohol, the report says, a grinder and rolling papers. Fishman told police she knew Thigpen sealed marijuana, mushrooms and possibly cocaine and had refused her request to stop.

In the kitchen, a search revealed plastic packaging and a cocaine rock weighing 1.9 grams, a digital scale and 6.5 grams of marijuana in a glass jar. DCF was called for the child, police say.

Fishman was charged with a non-student possessing drug paraphernalia and drugs near a school, risk of injury to a child and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.

Thigpen was arrested for a non-student possessing drug paraphernalia and distribution of drugs near a school, four counts of possession with intent to sell, possession of controlled substance, risk of injury to a child, interfering with a search and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.
