Officers Cleared in 2010 Middletown 'Excited Delirium' Death

State's Attorney Rules Five Officers Acted 'Not Unreasonable or Criminal' When Subduing Efrain Carrion

Middlesex County State’s Attorney Timothy Liston has determined that the five Middletown Police officers involved in the death of 35-year-old Efrain Carrion May 24, 2010, after being Tasered multiple times acted "not unreasonable or criminal," according to a press release issued by police today.

Liston reviewed the Connecticut State Police’s investigation into the in-custody death at the Town Ridge apartment complex off Westlake Drive. Police had said they used a stun gun to subdue Carrion after he struggled with officers.

The medical examiner had ruled Carrion's cause of death as "excited delirium."
