Middletown Arrests: Dec. 3-12

The following information was provided by the Middletown Police public information officer. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE AND WHILE LICENSE IS SUSPENDED, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — On Dec. 12, Ergela Kulla, 23, of Follybrook Boulevard, Wethersfield, was driving an Acura Integra on Washington Street near High with emergency lights on. The report says she told the officer she didn't have paperwork and had bought the car the day before.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On Dec. 12 at 3 p.m., police were called to the Gilead House on Silver Street about a fight between residents. Donald Hassman, 36, of Silver Street, the report says, shoved his roommate, the third time he had assaulted the victim. The report indicates both men have a mental illness and Hassman and the victim fought over him taking the man's food. Hassman told police he did push the man and has trouble with his temper and gets violent when angry.

USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — On Dec. 11 at 1 p.m., police watching traffic on South Main Street near the Gulf Station due to recent armed robberies of 24-hour service stations saw Steven E. Holloman, 47, of Murryhill Road, Greensboro, N.C., driving a Honda Accord without a front plate. The report says both the passenger and driver appeared to be hiding something. In the center console, a Newport cigarette box was found with a glass pipe with copper inside and police say Holloman admitted it was his.

BREACH OF PEACE — On Dec. 10, police were called to Middlesex Hospital about an out-of-control patient, Marilyn E Sweatt, 51, of LaBella Circle, who had spit at and hit personnel, the report says. When officers arrived, they heard Sweatt yelling and swearing and were told she had kicked a nurse's arm, and hit her twice, then "threatened to slit the throats of nurses," the report says. Sweatt, police say, has 77 prior arrests.

ATTEMPT TO COMMIT CRIME, ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF NARCOTIC — On Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m., narcotics officers arrested a crack dealer on Grand Street. Officers set up a drug by using his seized cell phone at 10:29 p.m. with Connie L. Clay, 54, of Liberty Street, who was seeking a "twenty piece," or .2 grams of crack, the report says. The officer met Clay in the It's Only Natural parking lot at 11 p.m. and Clay said he was there to meet a friend, not to buy crack, the report says, however he had $20 in his hand and when police redialed the last phone number, Clay's phone rang. Later, Clay admitted he thought it was strange to meet in a parking lot, but "his addiction took over," police indicate.

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE AND WHILE LICENSE IS SUSPENDED, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — On Dec. 3, Melissa Parsons, 30, of Mass Avenue, East Haven, was stopped by police while driving her car at South Main and Crescent streets. Inside, police found her boyfriend's prescription bottle for 8mg Suboxone pils, the report says.
