Middletown Arrests: Aug. 7-26

The following police reports are obtained directly from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

Aug. 26

OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At about 9 a.m., Richard M. Smith, 55, of Liberty Street was driving near Kings Avenue without a front license plate, according to the report. He was found with an outstanding warrant from New Britain.

Aug. 25

TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS, EVADING RESPONSIBILITY, DUI — Around 5:30 p.m., Jordan P. LaFlamme, 26, of Sycamore Street, Bristol, was driving on Route 9 North and hit the rear of a SUV, according to the report, while speeding, and fled the scene. Police caught him just south of Exit 16 and he failed a sobriety test, with his blood-alcohol levels registering .1915 and .1961.

Aug. 23

TRAVELING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE, DUI — At 6:36 p.m., Jennifer L. Persico, 31, of North Main Street, Naugatuck, was driving a Ford Freestyle behind a Toyota Corolla which stopped on South Main Street for traffic, and hit the rear of the Corolla, according to the report. Perisco failed a sobriety test and a records check revealed State Police had a complaint about her car earlier while driving in Durham, police indicate. A witness came forward, according to the report, who had followed Persico's car from Durham and saw the crash. She admitted to taking Sertraline and Clonazepam and admitted to taking two of the latter after her 11:30 a.m. doctor's appointment.

Aug. 22

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, FAILURE TO HAVE STOP LAMPS, POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES — At 10:29 a.m., Molly R. Maxam, 19, of St. John's Street was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix and made an illegal turn, according to the report, and when stopped appeared nervous and shaky. Maxam denied having anything illegal in the car, though officers smelled marijuana in the car and found a folded beef jerky bag with 1.5 grams of marijuana joints inside, the report says.

Aug. 19

FAILURE TO RENEW REGISTRATION, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, FAILURE TO HAVE LIGHTS LIT — At 9:38 p.m., Michelle M. Onofrio, 34, of Millbrook Road was driving on Washington Street with her Lexus ES300 lights not illuminated. The report says she thought because her dashboard lights were lit up that her headlights were on and admitted to driving from Ferry Street without them. 

Aug. 16

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED, TRAVELING UNREASONABLY FAST — At 5:27 p.m., Jamie L. Jones, 32, of Rising Trail Drive was driving on Country Club Road near Atkins Street at a high rate of speed, according to the report, 17 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone.

Aug. 7

NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNALIA NEAR SCHOOL — At 9:39 a.m., Vincent D. Cappello, 41, of Grand Street was a passenger in a Saturn sedan driven by Jessica L. Murphy, 31, of Lincoln Street on Grand Street without a seat belt and made an improper U-turn, according to the report. Police say both are known to be illegal narcotics abusers, mostly narcotics, and Cappello admitted to having a hypodermic needle on the front seat.
