Middletown's Memorial Day Parade down Main Street Monday was attended by thousands of residents dressed in patriotic colors and waving American Flags.

The schools' marching bands thrilled onlookers, along with the Lakeside Academy of Dance girls, who won a special award from the Middletown Council of Veterans.

City dignitaries, police and firefighters, and even a citizens' bicycle brigade, made their way to South Green for a glorious singing of the National Anthem, recognition of two World Ward II veterans and a special appearance all the way from East Tennessee — of country music star Charlie Allen, who sang "No Welcome Home."
