ION's Vegan Menu Especially Creative For Farm-To-Chef Week

Fresh handmade tofu from Middletown, and fruits and veggies from Sweet Birch Farm of Meriden and Fair Weather Acres of Rocky Hill on part of It's Only Natural's menu through Saturday.

This week, diners at the city's award-winning vegan spot — newly relocated in the North End — can enjoy the fruits of local farmers and a tofu maker in the remaining days of farm-to-chef week.

It's Only Natural Restaurant, which moved from its longtime home at Middletown's Main Street Market, is offering a stunning three-course meal that showcases in-season ingredients.

Through Sept. 21, ION, at 606 Main Street, has crafted a soup, salad and entree with produce from Sweet Birch Farm of Meriden, The Bridge in Middletown, and Fair Weather Acres of Rocky Hill.

Get a taste of this: White Bean & Kale Soup with roasted garlic, ichiban eggplant, leeks, heirloom green beans and fresh herbs; Heirloom Tomato and Red Quinoa Salad with local greens, roast yellow and red beets and balsamic dressing; and Pecan Crusted Tofu with peach chutney, sautéed local greens, roast purple top turnips and mashed potatoes.

Sublime — for vegans, vegetarians and locavores alike.
