The oldest Roman Catholic church in the Norwich diocese, St. John's has a school enrolling children from kindergartenMore through Grade 8. The school is co-educational and tuition-based (financial aid is available for parishioners); most students are from Middletown and Cromwell, with some from Portland, East Hampton and Haddam. During Sunday Mass, there's a liturgy for children ages 3 to 8; St. John's also offers religious education on Mondays for grades 1 through 8. There's also a confirmation program for 9th graders.

Religious education classes are held Sundays 8:45am-9:55am for grades one, four, five and six; Mondays, 4:30pm-5:30pm for grades two and three; and Mondays 6pm-7pm for grades seven and eight.

Religious education classes are held from September through May for kindergarten through Grade 8. There's a Sunday evening confirmation program for students in grades 9 and 10.

St. Mary of Czestochowa was founded at the start of the 20th century by Polish immigrants living in Middletown. TheMore church retains many of its traditions, including a weekly Polish Mass and devotions. Weekday Mass is held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am. Saturday Mass is at 8am. A Saturday vigil Mass begins at 5pm (in spring and summer) and at 4pm during Daylight Savings Time. A Sunday Mass is conducted in Polish at 7:30am; later Masses are conducted in English at 9:30am and 11am. 

St. Mary of Czestochowa has a youth program that meets monthly for discussions and games. There's also a prayer group and "Why Catholics?" discussion group for adults.

St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church

Sunday Mass at St. Francis is held at 7:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. A Mass in Spanish is held at noon. SundayMore vigil starts at 4 p.m. Saturday. Daily Masses are also held Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. 

Confession is held from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Baptisms are celebrated on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.

An adult choir sings principally at the 10 a.m. Sunday Mass and at special feasts. St. Francis also has a youth choir upper elementary, middle and high school students. St. Francis also has instrumental ensembles that perform regularly at the 4 p.m. vigil and at the 10 a.m. Sunday Mass.
