Are we the only ones who weren’t aware that almost everyday of the year is a celebration of some kind of food/drink? Is this a new thing?
ANYHOO, HAPPY NATIONAL HOT COCOA DAY! Here are some of our favorite variations of hot chocolate in Middletown
Lake Champlain Hot Chocolate from Fusion Bakery and Patisserie
Besides there delicious homemade baked goods, Fusion also boasts a variety of chocolate products made by Lake Champlain, a company located in Vermont. The hot chocolate comes in a variety of flavors, including traditional, mocha, spicy Aztec, mnt, and chai. All of them are made extra delicious by barista extraordinaire Jen, and if you really fall in love with your drink, you can even by a canister of it at the bakery.
Hot Cocoa Cupcake from NoRA Cupcake Company
NoRA’s hot cocoa cupcake gives you the same warm, cozy feeling that you get from drinking the steamy bevereage. The rich chocolate cupcake is filled with marshmallow fluff, and topped with vanilla whipped cream and mini marshmallows. It is definitely one of my go-to NoRA creations.
Mexican Hot Chocolate from Cafe 56
Cafe 56 is a new obsession of mine. (Stay tuned for an article after break). This quaint little eatery features food inspired by “the Americas”, including Mexican hot chocolate. A delicious chocolately beverage with a hint of chili flavor. Unlike some hot chocolates, which are so rich that you feel beyond full after a tiny sip, this drink manages to be thick and flavorful, without being too heavy to truly enjoy. The chili adds a surprising very satisfying kick.
If you need a break from your books, get yourself down to Main Street or over to Pi Cafe and celebrate National Hot Cocoa Day the right way. Happy Holidays!
