Altrusa Book Drive Promotes Joy of Reading

Members collected 339 books and handed them out to Middletown's Women and Infant Children clients for its International Literacy Day project.

Altrusa International of Central Connecticut members recently collected 339 books in September for International Literacy Day for Altrusa Books for Children. 

After the September meeting, club members placed book plates in each book. Books will be distributed to Women and Infant Children, Middletown location. The local club has collected and distributed more than 7,500 books in the last four years and active in greater Middletown for more than 50 years. 

The club focus efforts on promoting Literacy for All Ages and sponsors college scholarships, an annual senior poetry contest, year-round book drive, year-round collection of baby food and diapers for needy families and the annual Make a Difference Day Women’s Health Awareness Day.
