The forecast for rain suddenly changed to sunny and warm just in time for the First Annual Take Steps; Make Strides Walk to support the John J Nerden RTC Camp.The first annual walk was held, Saturday, October 6th at Maloney High School in Meriden.
An incredible time was had by all who came out to support camp! Between visiting our vendors (listed below), participants of all ages enjoyed face painting with Prinkles the Clown, juggling and balloon animals with Skip & Gil, bouncing in the Moon bounce and the braver attendees took a turn on the giant slide! The hula-hoops and inflatable guitars came out while dancing to the music of DJ Doug. The Kids ½ mile walk at 10:00 was led by Skip & Gil.
The 5K began promptly at 10:45. A $50.00 gift certificate for the Westfield Mall was awarded to Samantha Camire for the most money raised by an individual.A $100.00 Gift Card for Lido’s Restaurant was presented to Team “Trick or Trek” for the most funds raised by a team.
The afternoon ended with the teacup raffle, of more than 20 raffle prizes donated for the event! Thanks again to all of the volunteers, vendors and all of you that came out to walk to support
