After six weeks of worshipping with Trinity Episcopal Church in Portland, The at 381 Main Street in Middletown is reopening on September 9, 2012.
The 9 a.m. Eucharist will be a family service involving all the children with music by the Joyful Noise Praise Band. A community picnic with hot dogs and all the usual accompaniments will follow on the front lawn of the church.
Everyone is invited to join us.During the six week hiatus, Rumberger & Co, inc. has been repairing plaster and paint work damaged over the years before the roof was repaired, the Austin Organ Company has been making upgrades to the organ console and installing a new Solo Division to our historic organ, and the sound system has been restored to working order.
“While there is always more work to do in a historic building,” said the Rev. Margaret Minnick, “This is a huge step in the right direction.” “With the stained glass windows restored and the roof and gutters repaired, we can now focus on the interior upgrades culminating with the installation of an elevator in the back part of the building used by so many community groups and organizations.”
Fundraising in the community to help support the elevator project is getting underway with the project scheduled to begin in October with a matching grant from the State of Connecticut Funds for the restoration of Historic Buildings. For more information you can visit the parish web site at holytrinityct.org or call the parish office at 860-347-2591.
On September 16, 2012 the church will resume its regular worship schedule of Eucharist’s at 8:00 and 10:15 AM with Sunday School and child care at 10:15.
