Strawberry Festivals Kick Off Summer Fruit Season

Get your fill of sweet berries and fresh cream Friday at St. Pius Church and Tuesday at St. Mary's Church in Middletown.

The strawberry season in Connecticut is short — and so are its cakes — the best way to enjoy summer's first berries atop, crowned with generous dollop of freshly whipped cream.

Two Middletown churches are offering strawberry shortcake festivals today and Tuesday. Be sure to get there early before those giant red rubies run out.
