Middletown's Fireworks Return Tonight With Bang

Headliner Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze's boogie and blues will accompany patriotic tunes by the Middletown High School and Symphony bands, which will set the stage for a bombastic pyrotechnics display in honor of Independence Day on July Fourth.

Fireworks return to Middletown this summer, as the city and present an Independence Day Fireworks Festival July 3 from 6-10 p.m. on the front lawn of City Hall at 245 DeKoven Drive.

The event will include activities for children, music from a variety of live bands, select vendors, and fireworks shot high over the Connecticut River at 9:30 p.m.

In 2010 and 2011, the city's common council slashed fireworks funding due to budgetary constraints and the 2009 was reinstated by the council after former Mayor Sebastian N. Giuliano removed them to balance his spending package.
