Middletown Patch Visits Wapping Fair — and Has Whopping Good Time
The final day of the four-day 120th annual fair was marked by beautiful weather and sights galore. Middletown Patch took a weekend field trip — and brings you the visual highlights.
Middletown Patch caught the Connecticut agricultural fair bug early Sunday and since the Durham Fair is a few weeks off and the Portland Fair not opening until mid-October, we took the family to the 120th annual Wapping Fair in South Windsor — just past the Manchester line.
It's the first time we've ever attended and we can honestly say it is a spectacular one. Not too sprawling nor too meager, the fair offers traditional country fair staples like livestock tents, tractor pulls, live bands and pig races, as well as a giant area of amusement rides to please our 9-year-old boy, whom we have to say we saw very little of after the kind lady locked a $23 all-ride pass bracelet on his wrist.

The neat thing was a non-perishable food donation knocked $1 off admission for both myself and my brother; and of course the little dudes were free.
My son proceeded to make this Patch editor very happy, going on ride after nauseating-looking ride, bringing his actual ride total value to something near $2,300 — a coup for Mom!
