Portland’s 2013 Patriotic Program!

Portland held its annual Patriotic Program Saturday July 13th on the Veteran's Memorial behind the City Hall. The event started with the Pledge of Allegiance and then everyone sang the National Anthem.

The whole Declaration of Independence was then read by the team’s volunteers. A quick biography of the four Connecticut men who signed the declaration followed the reading. And then "The Price They Paid", a documentary story about the prices paid by the signers of the Declaration was presented.

The event ended by everyone singing "God Bless America". The whole presentation was less than a half hour so no one's attention would be lost. It was very entertaining and educational.

Below is a link to videos of the entire event plus a slideshow of the volunteers. Before you watch it, get a pen or pencil and write down the names of the four Connecticut Declaration signers and then see if you are correct!

Please view it and then pass it on to your family and friends through facebook or twitter. Next year they hope to see many more families with their grammar and high school children.
