Youth Swimmers Start Competitive Season With a Splash

Veterans Pool was animated Monday with the splashing and kicking of youth swimmers of all ages and abilities as the summer swim team began daily practice.

The Middletown Parks and Recreation team is made up of swimmers ages 5-18 who know at least one of the competitive strokes and can complete one lap before joining.

Vet's Pool Summer Swim Team practices are held weekdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Veteran's Memorial Pool in Middletown at 1 Walnut Grove Road.

The director is Ashely Thody, Dan McAlear is head coach; Kaci Cotharin, Jerrod Zimmer and Alexandra Dagenais are coaches; and founder and program director emeritus is Nick Dagenais.

The first swim meet is July 1 at Woodrow Wilson Middle School pool in Middletown.
