Jets Win Prof. Ball Beginner Finals

In a nail-biter of a game at Woodrow Wilson Middle School Sunday afternoon, the Bombers and Jets faced off with the Jets taking first place.

The Jets claimed the city-wide beginner division title Sunday afternoon in a close game against the Bombers, 30-27, at Woodrow Wilson Middle School.

Mayor Dan Drew congratulated all the players in an awards ceremony for all divisions, beginners through advanced — grades three through eight — and called out raffle ticket numbers for prizes which ranged from basketballs to two new bicycles.

March 2-4 at Keigwin and Woodrow Wilson middle schools is the 2012 Prof G Invitational Tournament. Everyone is invited to stop by the games and cheer on the teams!

The city's 8- and 9-year-old basketball players, beginner third-and fourth-graders in the Prof. Gallitto Basketball League have worked hard this season to get to Saturday's playoff games at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. at .

Sunday at , the Bombers play the winner of game three and at 10 a.m. the winners of game one and two play in the semifinals. Sunday at noon at Vinal is the finals: to see which team wins the all-city title. Of course, every player is a winner this year as the teams have worked so hard every week since the late fall.
