Middletown Man Takes Third in Niantic Bay Triathlon

Hundreds of competitors turned out to swim, bike, and run in Niantic's Triathlon challenge

About 470 people turned out at McCook Point Park to compete in the Niantic Bay Triathlon on August 5, including third-place runner Ed Jensen of Middletown. It was a sweltering day for the two-hour race but everyone seemed ready for the challenge.

The race started with a half-mile swim around Niantic Bay. From there it was onto bicycles for a 12-mile ride before ending with a three-and-a-half-mile run and sprint to the finish.
