Boys in Pink Wigs & Girls on the Gridiron: Middletown High's Powder Puff Recap

The goal this year was ambitious — to raise $5,000 for the Adopt-A-Family program and non-perishable food items for the Amazing Grace Food Pantry.

Last night THE place to be was at Middletown High School's Rosek-Skubel Stadium for the annual powder puff football game matchup between the junior and senior girls.

The final score was 28 to 14, with Mikaela Coady scoring three touchdowns for the seniors, clinching the game.

The goal this year was ambitious — to raise $5,000 for the Adopt-A-Family program and non-perishable food items for the Amazing Grace Food Pantry.

Eight hundred people turned out to watch and raise thousands of dollars for charity, according to Jim Bransfield. In all, 12 boxes of canned goods were collected by the MHS Key Club, which sponsored the game.

"There were 110 girls on the two teams, 35 boys were cheerleaders ... their halftime show was priceless!" Bransfield said.

If you couldn't make it — don't fret. We have the highlights here, including two videos and photographs taken by Michael Stielau and Karen Hobart Flynn. Her son Jack Flynn is a senior at MHS.

Check out the video below and another one here, both courtesy of Stielau, which shows a hilarious half-time dance with 35 MHS boys dressed in drag stepping to Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a Woman," "We Can't Stop," by Miley Cyrus, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift and, of course, Cindy Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."

It all ends with a Rockettes-worthy high kick routine. Watch the videos. You'll have a new respect for Middletown High School boys.
