Jazz Jam – Warren Byrd, Emile de Leon & Wes Brown

The 1st Wednesday of every month.

The show will consist of one set of top jazz artists performing and one set jazz jam session for instrumentalists and vocalists to sit in and perform with these artists.

Wednesday, October 5th : Warren Byrd on piano, Wes Brown on bass and Emile de Leon on drums.

Vocalist Warren Byrd is a Hartford native with an international touring schedule after many fruitful years playing Jazz throughout Connecticut, Southern New England, and New York.

In the last, twenty years, he has lended his musicianship to many groups and performers in Jazz, R&B, World, Latin, Pop, etc., as well as Dance and Theatre. A short list of performers would include Archie Shepp, Eddie Henderson, Frank Lacy, Saskia Laroo, Steve Davis, David Chevan, Mixashawn, Kenny Hamber, Alvin Carter, Nita Zarif, and many more.

In 2000, he released Truth Raised Twice, his only album as a leader with many of his own compositions as well as standards from the Jazz repetorie.

The last several years include many international tours and an album release with Saskia Laroo and two duo albums, four ensemble albums, and considerable press exposure with David Chevan and the Afro-Semitic Experience. He touts composition as the cornerstone of his development as an artist and the springboard of his career direction.

Emile de Leon has played music professionally as a percussionist for over 25 years. Starting at age fifteen in New York City and continuing to the present playing alternative, meditative music. He has also taught music privately and in the Public School system as well as Wesleyan University, in Middletown, CT.

WES BROWN (bass) has performed and toured with a wide range of musical personalities. Wes plays acoustic and electric bass, keyboard, percussion and African flute. His current interests include African-American/jazz, Afro-pop/worldbeat, reggae and traditional African styles. Wes has appeared on over two dozen records with various artists and has extensive international touring experience with such artists as Earl “Fatha” Hines and Anthony Braxton.
