The Middlesex County Historical Society cordially invites members of the public to enjoy the holiday ambience of the General Joseph Mansfield House, the Society’s headquarters, at 151 Main Street in Middletown. Join us on Saturday, December 17 from 5 to 7 pm for an hors d’oeuvres, wine, and punch reception in the beautifully decorated parlors. Furniture from the collection of the Society will be displayed throughout the exhibits adding to the old-fashioned holiday atmosphere in the beautiful five bay brick Federal built circa 1817. This is a wonderful chance to visit with friends without having to do the preparation yourselves and relax before the inevitable last-minute shopping and cooking.
The price per person is $15. Reservations are required and may be made by calling the Society at 860-346-0746. The Society does have a Wish List of items that will help us put on future events and cut costs. Anyone bringing an item from the Wish List will be charged a reduced rate of $10 for the reception.
The Wish List includes: For the kitchen: several sharp knives, a cutting board, microfiber cloths, 30-cup coffee pot, several large serving spoons, set of 12 small vases for tables, towels for drying dishes, paper towels; for the office: Post-it notes, no. 2 pencils, adult scissors, white letter-sized lined writing pads, flashdrives; electronics: new or gently used digital video camera, used or new iPad or android tablet.
