Belichick has coached since concluding her four-year varsity lacrosse career with the Cardinals. She began coaching at Choate Rosemary Hall as head girl's lacrosse coach, and served as assistant coach at UMass Amherst in 2010 when the UMass women captured their second straight Atlantic-10 title.

For the past three years she has been an assistant coach at The Ohio State University. The Buckeyes ended the 2013 season 8-10.

At Wesleyan, Belichick, playing on attack, accounted for 47 goals and 25 assists for 72 points during her career including a tremendous 52-point season in 2006. She posted six game-winning goals for Wesleyan in 2006, during its 9-8 season.

"It is an incredible honor to return to Wesleyan as the interim head lacrosse coach," said Belichick.  "I am so proud to be a Wesleyan alum, and after six years away from Middletown, it is a dream to be coming back to Wesleyan.  I believe that the women's lacrosse program here at Wesleyan has incredible potential, and I am looking forward to leading the team into its next chapter."

"We are very excited to have Amanda taking over our women's lacrosse program," said Wesleyan Athletics Director Mike Whalen '83.  "As an alum, she has a clear understanding of the balance we strive for with regard to academics and athletics.

"She is very bright, has outstanding knowledge of the game of lacrosse and brings a strong work ethic to our program.  Her experience at both The Ohio State and UMass, combined with her background of being a former student-athlete at Wesleyan, makes her extremely qualified for this position.  We feel fortunate to have Amanda back on our campus and I look forward to working with her as she leads our lacrosse program into the future."

Belichick is the daughter of Bill Belichick, Wesleyan class of 1975.  Both Amanda and Bill were captains of their respective lacrosse teams at Wesleyan as seniors.  Bill has been coaching in the National Football League since his graduation and has led the New England Patriots to five Super Bowl appearances and three Super Bowl titles as he begins his 14th season at the helm of the Patriots in 2013.
