Free Summer Camp for Middle School Girls

FREE 4 week summer camp for any Middletown girl going into grades 7,8 and 9 to again be offered by Rushford.

is pleased to once again offer GIRL TALK, our four-week summer camp for middle school girls. This program is being offered beginning July 10, and operates Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson Middle School.

Lunch and snacks are provided, and free tickets for the Middletown Area Transit bus can be provided at request.

While the staff works very hard to make sure the girls are having fun, this camp teaches adolescent females to combat the negative influences of media and society, while developing positive affirming social and life skills.

Each of the four weeks focus on different themes, including Positive Self Image and Empowerment/Role Models; Positive Messages/Media Analysis and Diversity, Tolerance and Acceptance; Nutrition/Healthy Habits/Being physically active; and Communication/Building supportive relationships. We bring a variety of guest speakers, take field trips, create projects, develop friendships, and have lots of fun.

Rushford is able to offer this program at no cost to girls and their families through the generous financial support from the Middlesex County Community foundation Women and Girls Fund.
