Xavier's Class of '11 Starts New Chapter

Congratulations to the Class of 2011 at Xavier High School! The school held its 45th commencement exercises Sunday morning at Kohs Gymnasium, highlighted by an invocation by Father Gregory Galvin, the director of vocations for the Diocese of Norwich. Bishop Michael Cote was also in attendance.

Special awards were presented to students who distinguished themselves in academics or extracurricular activities. They were:

• The Xavier Valedictorian, English, and Science Awards to Patrick J. Lenehan.
• The Xavier Salutatorian Award to Oliver Neal.
• The Xavier Religion Award to Francis R. Rowland.
• The Brother John Collins Campus Ministry Award to Alexander P. Kobak.
• The Xavier Mathematics Award to Ronald E. Weir, Jr.
• The Xavier French Award to Michael P. Kowalski.
• The Xavier Spanish Award to Jeffrey Herrera.
• The Xavier Latin and Social Studies Awards to Michael R. Breault.
• The Xavier Business Award to Christopher M. Danko.
• The Xavier Visual Arts Award to John T. Maher.
• The Xavier Music Award and Performance Arts Award to Brian P. Wills.

The Xavier Loyalty and Service Award, generally considered the most prestigious honor, went to James F. McNamara Jr.
