Family, Coaches and Friends Gather to Honor Xavier Athletes

The Galluzzo Media Center, the Xavier High School library, was the scene for an event honoring five student/athletes who have been accepted to college and have committed to playing for the school's athletic teams.

 

The Galluzzo Media Center, the Xavier High School library, was the scene for an event honoring five student/athletes who have been accepted to college and have committed to playing for the school’s athletic teams.

Principal Brendan Donohue, on behalf of Headmaster Brother Brian Davis, C.F.X. and Director of Athletics Tony Jaskot `69, welcomed the families of the honorees as well as the coaches and other faculty and staff and members of the media who were in attendance. He congratulated the seniors for their achievements and wished them well as they commit themselves to future challenges.

National Letter of Intent Signings and Student/Athlete College Commitments: (Statistics and Award listing were provided by Head Coach Sean Marinan `80)

Tim Boyle (Middlefield) Quarterback, 6’ 4” 210lbs - UConn (Division I, Big East Conference) Tim was a 3 year starter and senior co-captain.

Max Tylki (Wethersfield) Linebacker, 6’ 1” 210lbs - Brown (Ivy League, NCAA Division I)

2012 Stats: 99 tackles, 43 solo, 12 for a loss, 6 sacks,10 QB hurries,1 PBUs, 2 INTs

2011 Stats: 2 receptions for 6 yards with 2 two point conversions 76 tackles, 25 solo, 20 for a loss, 3 sacks, 3 QB hurries, 7 PBUs

Max Schumann (Old Saybrook) Offensive Tackle, 6’2’’ 270lbs - University of Chicago (Division III, University Athletic Association)

2012 Stats: 86 tackles, 45 solo, 13 for a loss, 6 sacks and 13 QB hurries, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumbles recovered, 1 pass deflected.

Kris Luster (Meriden) Wide Rreceiver/Corner Back/Strong Safety, 5’ 10” 181lbs – Wesleyan (Division III, New England Small College Athletic Conference); senior co-captain

2012 Stats: 73 receptions for 1,270 yards with 12 TDs, 20 carries for 129 yards with 1 TD, 62 tackles, 32 solo, 3 for a loss, 1 QB sack, 2 INTs, 7 PBUs                              

 2011 Stats: 4 carries for 92 yards with 1 TD, 2 receptions for 82 yards

36 tackles, 13 solo, 2 for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovered, 5  PBUs

After their individual announcements and signing, each student was joined by his family, Headmaster Brother Brian Davis, C.F.X., Principal Donohue, Coach Marinan and Assistant Coach Greg Jaskot `00 for photographs.

Congratulations to all five of these student athletes. We will announce any future similar commitments to college athletic programs as we receive them between now and graduation in May.
