Xavier's Advancement Director Named to Wheaton Trustees Board

Matt Strekel previously worked at Wesleyan University in Middletown as a major gift development officer.

's Director of Advancement, Matt Strekel '99 of Lyme, was appointed to the Board of Trustees at Wheaton College for a five-year term from 2012-17.

Thomas J. Hollister, chair of the Board for Wheaton College wrote, "I am delighted to welcome you as the next young Alumnus Trustee. I know that you will bring a depth of expertise and a deep commitment to advancing the college's mission. Please know that I, and the other board members, look forward to working with you." 

Strekel earned his bachelor of arts degree from Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., and has been a member of the Wheaton Fund Executive Committee.

Hollister added, "Matt, thank you for your willingness to share your time, leadership and counsel as a Wheaton trustee. It will be a pleasure to have your input and guidance."

Strekel came to Xavier from , where he was a major gift development officer where he was responsible for managing a large number of campaign prospects and their relationship with the university. In the two prior years, he was the assistant director of the Wesleyan Fund and managed fund-raising activities and class reunions with an emphasis on building participation.

After graduating from Xavier in 1999 and earning his bachelor of arts degree from Wheaton, Strekel received his master of arts in liberal studies from Wesleyan University in May. He has also served as a member of the Xavier Alumni Association Executive Committee, advisor to the Advancement Committee of the Xavier Board of Directors.
