State Approves Funding for Middlesex Community College IT Upgrades

Outdated computer and telecommunications to be replaced.

The state Bond Commission has approved $566,814 for the replacement of educational, computer and telecommunications equipment at Middlesex Community College in Middletown, state Rep. Gail K. Hamm (D-East Hampton, Middletown) announced Tuesday.

The funding is part of a statewide allocation of $15 million approved  for instruction, research, laboratory and information technology improvements. 

“Maintaining cutting edge technology in our schools is a critical priority,” Hamm said. “I thank Governor Malloy for approving this upgrade.”

 The money will go toward computer services including email, course management, financial aid and financial systems.

Infrastructure improvements will include network cabling, wireless networks, information security and routers and servers.

“As enrollment grows, so does the need for facility and technology growth,” Hamm said.  “Investing in our students' education now will keep Connecticut competitive in the future.”
