Amanda Thomson Named Agricultural Education Teacher of the Year

This Middletown High School vocational-agricultural teacher earned a one-year free lease of a Toyota Tundra truck for leadership in civic, community, agriculture/agribusiness and professional activities.

Amanda Thomson, a vocational-agricultural teacher at Middletown High School, has been named the Region VI Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher of the year. 

Region VI comprises the Northeast United States from Virginia to Maine and includes 13 states. 

Thomson received a plaque signifying her award and a one-year free lease of a Toyota Tundra, Platinum edition truck. The awards program recognizes members of the National Association of Agricultural Educators who are at the top of their profession and those who, according to the NAAE, "are conducing the highest quality agricultural education programs." 

The organization said the award recognizes leadership in civic, community, agriculture/agribusiness and professional activities.

"I am so pound of Amanda for this honor," said Department chair Rebecca Isaacson. 

The program is sponsored by Toyota as a special project of the National Future Farmers of America Foundation.
