Nearly Half of Middletown High School Students Make Honor Roll

To receive honors, a student must have an overall average of 85-89, with no grade below 70 and no incomplete classes.

Middletown High School Principal Colleen M. Weiner today announced that 540 of the 1,252 students have qualified for the Honor and High Honor Roll for the first marking period. 

To receive honors, a student must have an overall average of 85-89, with no grade below 70 and no incomplete classes.

To receive high honors, a student must have a grade average of 90 or better. The honorees will be guests at an ice cream social to be held in the school's food court Friday at 11:30 a.m. 

Director of Athletics Michael Pitruzzello also announced that 61 student-athletes from the fall athletic teams were named to the Central Connecticut Conference All-Academic team.

To be selected to the team, a student must be a member of a varsity team and achieve an academic average of 87.5 or higher. 

Those named include 18 members of the girls soccer team, 14 members of the football team, nine members of the girls volleyball team, seven members of the girls cross-country team, six members of the boys soccer team, three members of the girls swim team, two members of the boys cross-country team and two members of the Unified Sports soccer team. 

They were honored at the school's Fall Sports Awards dinner on
Dec. 16 at the high school.
