Macdonough Students Spread Musical Holiday Cheer

The annual winter concert Tuesday featured more than 200 kindergarten through fifth-graders singing and playing instrumental favorites.

This year's winter concert at Macdonough Elementary School was truly a musical extravaganza as fourth- and fifth-grader band members launched into "Jingle Bells" Tuesday morning, following music teacher Stephen D'Amato announcement that this was by far the largest band he'd seen in quite some time.

More than 250 students, parents, teachers and staff gathered in the gymnasium to hear songs celebrating Channukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and the festive season, interspersed with "surprise" visits from characters like Frosty the Snowman, Driedel and a Christmas Tree.

Holiday concerts continue at Middletown Public Schools through Jan. 7. Today, Wesley Elementary will present its winter concert at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the Woodrow Wilson Middle School Choral and Strings Concert takes place at 7 p.m. See the attached pdf for a complete listing.
