Macdonough School Celebrates Flag Day

Hundreds of students, parents and teachers gathered for the red, white and blue to sing patriotic songs and watch students win citizenship awards.

Red, white and blue were the predominant colors outside Macdonough Elementary School Wednesday as students, teachers and parents celebrated Flag Day with a festive, school-wide assembly.

Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders sang a spunky "This is My Country," and the first-, second- and third-graders followed up with the traditional tune, "You're a Grand Old Flag."

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Frechette then handed out Citizenship Awards to 25 students who had shown superior commitment to the positive learning community at Macdonough.
