Lawn Chemicals & The Law

The Jonah Center for Earth and Art invites the public to an evening with environmental activist Nancy Alderman, on Thursday, October 18, at 7-8:30 p.m. at First Church of Christ, Congregational, 190 Court Street, in Middletown.  Nancy will talk about lawn care chemicals, their dangers to human health, and how we need to change state law that currently prohibits cities and towns from restricting their use.

Nancy Alderman is the President of Environment and Human Health, Inc. (EHHI) in New Haven, an organization dedicated to protecting human health from environmental harms through research, education and the promotion of sound public policy in Connecticut. EHHI is made up of doctors, public health professionals and policy experts committed to the reduction of environmental health risks to individuals. EHHI focuses on pesticides, childhood obesity, cancer, asthma, school environments, wood smoke, synthetic turf, plastics, and more. Along with the Jonah Center, this event is co-sponsored by: Project Green Lawn, a Middletown coalition working to promote organic lawn care and reduce the use of lawn chemicals; Middletown Garden Club; and the Middlesex Community College Sustainability Committee.
