Chamber Energy Forum

Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce, announced that the Chamber will hold a seminar titled How to Recover When Disaster Strikes – An Energy Forum on February 13, 2012 from 9:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cromwell, sponsored by Murtha Cullina Attorneys at Law.  The seminar will immediately follow the chamber’s breakfast meeting featuring United States Senator Richard Blumenthal, which will be held from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., also at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell.

This energy forum is an excellent opportunity for manufacturers, skilled nursing facilities, grocers, mall owners, office building managers, municipal officials, engineers, installers and businesses, both small and large, to hear from experts on how best to prepare and recover from an extended power outage or emergency because of a natural event or disaster.

A panel of experts will highlight the steps required to keep your business running with a minimal loss of productivity and staff down time.   

They will focus on:  

• The importance of preparing a disaster plan for your office or facility prior to an emergency and the steps you can take to mitigate risk.  
• The factors to consider when installing and designing backup energy systems at your facility, complex or building, including an overview of the different technologies.  
• How best to navigate the regulatory and legal process.

• The concept of building micro grids.
• The consideration of ongoing maintenance issues     
• Rethinking the existing use of your backup systems to maximize reliability and efficiencies.    

The strategies covered will help you mitigate risk, substantially improve energy reliability, produce cost savings and efficiencies not only after an emergency, but year round as well.
