Poetry Workshop with Steve Straight

In this workshop participants will work from published poems to produce their own new work. Examples will be provided, but those attending are encouraged to bring one or two short poems by other poets they admire. Admission is $20 for members, $25 for members-to-be. Steve Straight is professor of English and director of the poetry program at Manchester Community College.  His first book, The Water Carrier, was published by Curbstone Press, and his next book, The Almanac, is forthcoming from Northwestern University Press.  For many years Straight directed the Connecticut Poetry Circuit, and for many summers he directed the Seminar Series for the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival.  He has given workshops on writing and teaching throughout the eastern United States and in Ireland.  In 1998 he was named a Distinguished Advocate for the Arts by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
