21st Century Office Training Program

The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce announced the start of the 21st Century Office Training Program, which will begin on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the chamber’s board room, 393 Main St., Middletown.

“The chamber is excited to have the opportunity to provide this outstanding program to our community and be able to provide our members with a qualified and skilled workforce,” said the program’s director, Johanna Bond.

This free program is available to any person with basic keyboarding and typing skills in need of training in modern office skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point and business math, with a focus on career counseling.  The program also includes preparation for employment opportunities such as resume preparation, interviewing techniques, and business etiquette and budgeting, which is provided by job placement coordinators.

Those seeking employment in business/industry will find the training program an excellent way to improve upon skills in modern office technology.  The 21st Century Office Training Program has received many awards including a Presidential Citation, the Governor’s Laurel Award and an official citation from the Connecticut General Assembly.  The program was established in 1986 and, since then, it has successfully provided more than 1,450 individuals with modern office training.  In addition, it has successfully placed a large majority of participants into the workforce.
