92 Earn Diplomas Through Middletown Adult Ed

Middletown High School was a sea of bright blue caps and gowns Wednesday evening for the triumphant graduation of nearly 100 students.

 

The n class of 2012 was comprised of 92 proud graduates outfit in bright, Dragons-blue caps and gowns who earned their academic diplomas Wednesday evening at .

The Class of 2012 has 92 graduates: 42 Middletown Adult High School Credit Diplomas, 25 Middletown Adult High School External Diplomas and 25 State of CT High School Diplomas (General Educational Development).

MAE offers free academic classes taught by experienced, certified teachers and also provide enrichment classes, counseling and assessment services. Day and evening classes are offered and enrollment is ongoing.

There are three ways to earn a diploma:

  1. Adult High School Credit Diploma Program: Students take classes in English, Math, Science, Social Studies & Electives. For adults 17 and over and withdrawn from day school.
  2. GED Diploma Program: Complete a series of five national standardized tests. Prepare to take the GED test through our free classes. For ages 17 and older and no longer enrolled in school.
  3. National External Diploma Program: This is a high school diploma program for mature adults who have acquired their academic skills through life and work experience. Participants must demonstrate their skills through the successful completion of a series of assignments. Self paced program with flexible scheduling and no classroom instruction.  

Class speakers were graduates Zayne Edinger and Tsultim Lama. The Liberty Bank Scholarship was awarded to graduate Ember Wade.

Earning a diploma through adult education enables individuals to pursue post-secondary education and training opportunities and participate more fully in CT’s workforce.

Middletown Adult Education is a Middletown Board of Education program serving Middletown, Cromwell, East Haddam/Moodus, East Hampton, Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Portland, Rocky Hill, Regional District #4 (Chester, Deep River, Essex, Centerbrook, Ivoryton), Regional District #13 (Durham, Middlefield and Rockfall) and Regional District #17 (Haddam, Higganum and Killingworth).
