Week In Review: New Budget, More Bridge Work, Senior Center Up in Air

Middletown Patch rounds up the week's news from April 1-7.

 

The week ending April 7 was an eventful week in government, both city and state, and not without excitement on Friday, when a Middletown woman went missing — and was located by evening.

On Friday, Middletown Police reported the that morning they said could pose a danger to herself. She was found safe that evening.

The state Department of Transportation announced Arrigoni Bridge construction would enter the final stage April 11.

On Wednesday, the entire Macdonough School community turned out for the first neighborhood-wide walk-to-school day — joined by the mayor, firefighters, the fire marshal, former Mayor Giuliano and others.

At Tuesday’s Senior Services Commission meeting, members said they felt ‘blindsided’ by the mayor’s plans for an alternate senior center. for possibly expanding city hall — and including a senior center.

At Monday’s meeting, Mayor Drew , which, he said, continued the overwhelming ‘benevolence’ of Middletown citizens and could increase the tax rate by 1 mill.

Across town that same night, for the NAACP, and answered some tough questions from the crowd.

Late Sunday, Middlesex Hospital announced it had with UnitedHealthCare that would allow thousands of patients to continue using the hospital with no interruption in coverage.
