CHC Receives Grant for School-Based Health Centers

Last week, the state Department of Economic and Community Development announced a $400,000 grant to help expand the Community Health Center

The Community Health Center in Middletown has been awarded $430,000 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“This funding will enable the Community Health Center to offer more services to children in greater Middletown who have no other medical care,” State Sen. Len Suzio said.

The federal funding helps school-based health centers expand, add equipment, improve their electronic records or take other steps to serve more school-aged children.

“This month has been filled with good news for the Community Health Center,” Suzio added.

Last week, the state Department of Economic and Community Development announced a $400,000 grant to help expand the Community Health Center.  The expansion will help to create about 100 jobs. The funding was part of more than $17 million in funding allotted for various brownfield-related projects. Suzio said the DECD grant “should help to make Middletown more economically active and encourage the revitalization of the downtown area.”
