State to Offer $200,000 Incentive For Electric Car Charging Stations

Attendees at the Middletown event got to step inside the Nissan Leaf, Tesla P85, Misubishi i-MiEV and other vehicles.

Representatives from electric car charging stations, EV car dealers, and the state department of energy gathered Tuesday at Middlesex Community College's Chapman Hall for an electric vehicle expo.

Commissioner James P. Redeker of the Connecticut Department of Transportation said the goal of the new program is to more than double the 81 publicly available charging stations in the state to 200 by the end of 2013 — providing an incentive for individuals and families to invest in 100-percent electric cars.
