Snow Falling in Middletown as Temps Hover at Freezing

The National Weather Service has forecast 3-5 inches for the city and a blast of Arctic air heading our way toward the end of the week.

A winter weather advisory is in effect through 5 p.m. Tuesday for Middletown and southern Middlesex County. 

The National Weather Service forecasts snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches with temperatures around 30 degrees. Middletown Public and parochial schools closed today and already accidents have been reported. Russell Library is open today.

Middletown's warming center is open  seven days a week, from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m., at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 381 Main Street.

* visibilities...occasionally at or below 1/2 mile in brief bands of
moderate to heavy snow.

* timing...snow will develop towards the end of the morning
rush...and continue into the afternoon. the snow should taper
off during the first part of the afternoon rush hour. 

* impacts...accumulating snow will create icy and hazardous travel
conditions throughout the day...including at least the start of
the afternoon rush.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving, according to the NWS.
