Middletown Producer and Dispensary Among Medical Marijuana Applicants

The Fairfield-based firm that earned approval to lease a 15,000-square-foot space in Middletown's Remington Rand factory and a Newfield Street pharmacy are among two applicants seeking medical marijuana producers or dispensary licenses.

The Connecticut's Department of Consumer Protection has released the list of applicants who have filed in hopes of opening a production facility and/or dispensary under the 2012 "An Act Concerning The Palliative Use of Marijuana." 

The state is going to initially approve three production facilities and three to five dispensaries. 

Last month, Greenbelt met with the owner of Middletown's NoRA Cupcake Co. bakery about a possible marijuana edibles collaboration. 

Owner Jason Nickerson is making sure the 15,000-square-foot space owned by the city of Middletown at the Remington Rand building at 180 Johnson Street is fully prepared to start growing medical marijuana if the state Department of Consumer Protection green lights his business plan. The city's common council approved a lease with Greenbelt at its August meeting.
