Middletown Mayor Reviving Idea of Putting Lights on the Arrigoni Bridge

Mayor Dan Drew said he is getting an engineering firm to conduct a study on what this type of investment would cost.

A longtime concept of installing lights along the Arrigoni Bridge is getting another look.

Mayor Dan Drew told The Hartford Courant he has been working with an engineering firm to get an estimate on what the cost would be to install lights on famous bridge connecting Middletown and Portland.

Drew said he plans on presenting the idea to the Middletown Common Council, with the initial investment costing as much as $750,000, The Courant reported.

He told the newspaper the timing is right because the city is looking to develop the waterfront area making it more attractive to tourists and visitors, and that the lighted bridge would be a return on that investment.
