Middletown Homeowners: Your Revaluation Stat Sheet is in the Mail

It has been more than 14 years since inspections have been a part of a Middletown revaluation, according to the tax assessor.

The city is preparing for the release of new assessment notices for commercial and industrial properties. Residential property notices are scheduled to be sent to homeowners after the holidays.

Vision Governmental Solutions has been contracted to perform the 2013 revaluation. All assessment notices were originally scheduled to be released this month however residential properties are still undergoing quality control and review procedures to finalize the data.

Some portions of the city will shortly be receiving a data verification form which is an important step in the process. The data mailer is a condensed version of the property record and it is mailed to every property owner to verify important property characteristics.

Property owners are encouraged to identify any discrepancies and return the form as soon as possible. The forms also offer instructions if property owners still require their property to be inspected.

Once the data and assessed values are finalized, a Notice of New Values will be mailed to each property owner. At that time, anyone with questions concerning the revaluation process or about the data on file for their property has an opportunity to meet with a member of Vision's staff to discuss their property value.

By law, revaluations must include inspections to every property within a 10-year
cycle. However due to several changes in the law regarding the revaluation cycle
over the last eight years, it has been more than 14 years since inspections have been a part of a Middletown revaluation.
