Mayor Drew: City Shelter is on Standby if Hurricane Knocks Out Power

With predictions that Hurricane Sandy could affect Connecticut, Middletown's mayor has announced Middletown High School is ready should an emergency shelter be needed.

 

In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, Middletown Mayor Dan Drew announced Friday the high school is ready should it need to be activated for a city shelter.

The city reminds residents that if the Middletown High School shelter is opened, they will need to bring personal items such as toiletries, feminine products, towels, medication, pillows, blankets and medical equipment. Residents should also plan for a several-day stay if needed.

A cot, food and drinks will be provided if needed, the release said.
