Mayor, Council Faced With Crafting Budget With Little Flexibility
With a goal to keep city taxes the same or less than last year, and the loss of $2.8 million between employee contract raises and the empty Aetna property, Democrats have a tough budget season ahead.
City leaders are hoping to keep taxes steady while faced with the challenge of losing nearly $3 million between tax revenue and contracted salary increases as budget season begins in earnest, the Hartford Courant reports.
Last year's lowered taxes 1.1 percent and approved $70.6 million for Middletown Public Schools.
