Longtime Middletown Councilman Endorses Giuliano for Mayor

Democrat John Robinson, former majority leader of the Council, says the mayor 'doesn't bow to pressure.'

Former Democrat Councilman and Town Committee chairman John Robinson has endorsed Mayor Sebastian Giuliano for reelection.

Robinson said Giuliano has made “the right decisions for Middletown,” because he “doesn’t bow to pressure.”

“I have a great deal of respect for Mayor Giuliano, he stands by his decisions and will not back down,” said Robinson. The Mayor has strong convictions in what he believes is right for the city. He is a good leader that serves Middletown well. “

Robinson, a lifelong Democrat, has served under several administrations over his 15 years on the Common Council where he served for two years as Majority Leader. He was also a member of the Council’s Personnel Committee and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

“We didn’t always agree 100 percent on the decisions, but in the end, I believe the right decisions were made,” Robinson said. “The people of Middletown elected Mayor Giuliano to make those tough decisions that he believes will be of benefit for the entire city.”

Mayor Giuliano said receiving Robinson’s endorsement was humbling.

“John Robinson was and is a true leader and someone who always put Middletown before politics,” said Giuliano. “I hope I can live up to John Robinson’s support and confidence.”
