Farm Hill Parents Pack BOE Meeting to Discuss 'Scream Rooms'

Children with behavioral and emotional issues are being placed in classrooms to work off their frustrations at one Middletown elementary school — at the expense of other students' learning, say parents who spoke at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting.

The public session at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting was dominated by Farm Hill Elementary School parents who say behavioral issues among certain students have overwhelmed the educational process for the majority of students, NBC Connecticut is reporting.

So-called "scream rooms," where children with behavioral and emotional issues are being placed in classrooms against their will to work off their frustrations, have prompted some Farm Hill School families to enroll their children in private schools, and even consider moving out of the district come September, the Middletown Eye is reporting.
